Beth Winter

  • Wesley Anne 250 High Street Northcote Hill , VIC, 3070 Australia (map)

Beth Winter is a singer- songwriter from Melbourne whose indie folk has strong roots in female celtic music and storytelling.

Beth draws inspiration from her Black Irish family roots. Like the traditional Irish folk writer, her songs are raw, poetic, honest. She sings to express themes of love, life, melancholy, wonder.

Being classically trained in both piano and vocals, her years singing in her award winning school choir sparked a love of complex harmonies and unique vocal arrangements.

Beth plays solo and with a fluid band which, at various times, has included a violinist, cello player, mandolin player, guitarist, trumpeter, banjo player and drummer. Band members are involved in the song writing process and create complex vocal harmonies which embellish the celtic mood of her music.

As a former student of Fine Arts, her songs are also often inspired by, and link to her practise as a painter, and her style has also been described as Indie, Folk Art music.

Beth’s influences include The Wailing Jenny’s, Emiliana Torrini, Lisa Hannigan, Sufjan Stevens, Laura Marling, Basia Bulat, Bon Iver and Nick Drake.

Beth has played at various music venues around Melbourne including at The Toff in Town, supporting the album launch of Simon Paparo and Daniel Shaw.

Beth launched her debut EP When The Night owl, at The Wesley Anne in 2018 and her second EP of piano songs, entitled One Day at Rolling Stock studios, released in July 2021 and launched at The Wesley Anne.
