BATTS is the project of Melbourne singer-songwriter and producer, Tanya Batt. After collaborating with NASA on her debut The Grand Tour, Batt turned her sights back to Earth, collaborating on The Nightline with American artists Sharon Van Etten and Deep Sea Diver. 

The Nightline was made in the Australian bush, with her band members and honorary sixth member Alex O'Gorman engineering, surrounded by horses and lorikeets often joining the band for lunch. 

BATTS has had a big year: signing with Mistletone, launching her own label,  I Feel Fine Records for her UK release, and touring with Cate Le Bon, Sharon Van Etten and Vika & Linda. 

Showered with global acclaim from NME (UK and Australia), Brooklyn Vegan, Stereogum, BBC Radio 6 and community radio across Australia, The Nightline was Beat magazine’s feature review, with its singles enjoying Double J rotation and Best New Music reviews, with videos from The Nightline dazzling late-night Rage viewers on repeat. 

“My father-in-law passed away towards the end of 2019 which shattered my world in unthinkable ways”, Batt says. “I didn’t play music for a while after but I eventually came back to it and clearly began to process through writing. When this became a clear theme of my songs, I felt it only true to make a record I knew my father-in-law would have loved.”
