MOONCHILD SANELLY

WITH SPECIAL GUEST SOJU GANG + MORE TBA
HEADLINING CLUB NIGHT IN MELBOURNE + ADDED AS SPECIAL GUEST TO GORILLAZ SPLENDOUR SIDESHOWS THROUGHOUT JULY

Secret Sounds is pumped to announce that trailblazing South African superstar Moonchild Sanelly will be headlining a very special club night at The Night Cat, Melbourne on Saturday 23 July. The songstress with swag will also join Gorillaz at their sold-out Splendour sideshows in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide next month, armed with a list of empowering new tracks from her recently released album, Phases.

Moonchild Sanelly released her award-winning debut album Rabulapha! in 2015. Since then she has not only dominated the gqom and amapiano scenes in her home country, but also commanded global attention with international hits and collaborations with Wizkid, Beyonce (featuring on ‘MY POWER’), Ghetts (‘Mozambique’) as well as none other than Gorillaz, who she’ll be joining in July, on ‘With Love To An Ex’

‘With Love To An Ex’ isn’t the only time Moonchild Sanelly has worked with a Gorilla. She and Damon Albarn have shared the stage in the past and collaborated on ‘I Can’t Move’ by Africa Express, on which they both feature. Beyond touring Australia with the virtual act this July, she will also join them at their headline show in Dublin later in the year.

Moonchild Sanelly will arrive in Australia armed with a whole suite of fresh songs hot off her new album Phases which dropped earlier this month. Phases is a sonic foundation that veers between amapiano, gqom, grime, pop, house and R&B that details various chapters of a toxic relationship and subsequent freedom. The album takes the listener on a journey through the relationship with production reflecting her different emotions, eventually leading into a clubbier amapiano space.

Moonchild Sanelly has dominated stages across the globe with her unique brand of electro-pop-ghetto-funk, infectious voice, killer hooks and one-of-a-kind style and will perform at Glastonbury 2022 before touching down in Australia. Known for her outspoken approach to female empowerment, female pleasure and sexual health, we just know that her headline show at The Night Cat is going to be one extraordinary evening of uplifting energy.

Buckle up, Moonchild Sanelly is heading for global domination and her next stop is Australia. Don’t miss her fearless, inclusive and electrifying energy as she graces our shores next month.  Fans can access tickets to her headline Melbourne club night, as well as tickets to Gorillaz in Sydney and Adelaide at scrtsnds.com/GorillazTickets
