Event Details

Returning for their first headliner at The Night Cat is molten Soul/Grunge outfit, The Glamour, performing in full their highly-anticipated debut album set for release in early 2023. On December 1st, the group’s piercing live show will bring unforgettable melodies lulled gently by heavy, cosmic grooves. A foundation of big guitars, drums, and bass remains at the core of a growing ensemble which now includes synths, horns, and major vocal moments. A live sound like no other, the band is on a mission to establish themselves as one of the most visceral live acts in the country.

Joined by Aunty Blue and Xyla, with projections by Carl Knox.

The Glamour is the Soul/Grunge experiment by Tejo D’Cruz existing through memorable melodic vocal passages over a dirty bedrock of groove. Shaped by a collective love of grunge, soul, and pop sensibilities, the music reaches in and communicates with the most essential aspects of your innerness. The electric new sound is a theatrical, soulfully dark, dreamy-grunge sonic embrace. D’Cruz’s lyrics explore the journey of existence, the experience of loneliness, and the inevitability of darkness surrounding you all underscored by the truth and glory that you’re still alive and an infinite idea. The intention is to achieve a connection with the self in the most direct way; this is feel music at its most honest and you are invited to reach back.

Aunty Blue has emerged with the gangly limbs of an awkward teenager, but the heart of your sweet old neighbour and her Maltese poodle. Following on from two tear-jerking single releases this year, “Dylan” & “Always Say the Wrong Thing”, Aunty Blue are about to launch their debut EP ‘Don't’ Let Me Down’, which sonically lies somewhere between the gritty melancholic cries of Sharon van Etten and the groovy neo-soul tones of Tom Misch, while intrinsically rooted in keeping the adolescent promises we made to ourselves.

XYLA (pronounced z-eye-la) is a singer-songwriter from Melbourne, Australia.
With unique vocal tones accompanied by acoustic pop/folk guitar rhythms with a hint of electronica, XYLA’s songs depict a raw and honest retelling of her own experiences navigating and reflecting on life as a twenty-something year old. Geelong born Tayla Haigh became XYLA with a mission to encourage people to step into their power and be the creators of their own lives; that what you’re looking for is already within you.

We acknowledge that this event will be held on Wurundjeri land of the Kulin Nation and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
